Über den Autor und weitere Mitwirkende
Wolf Erlbruch, 1948 in Wuppertal geboren, studierte Grafik-Design mit zeichnerischem Schwerpunkt an der Folkwang-Schule für Gestaltung in Essen-Werden. Nach dem Abschluss 1974 begann er seine freiberufliche Tätigkeit als Illustrator in der Werbebranche. In den folgenden Jahren publizierte er zunehmend Illustrationen in internationalen Magazinen, u.a. in: Esquire, GQ magazine New York, Stern, Transatlantic und twen. Er erhielt zahlreiche Preise für Illustration des Art Director Club (ADC) in New York. Ende der 80er Jahre begann er, Kinderbücher zu schreiben und zu illustrieren. 1990 folgte er der Berufung zum Professor an die Fachhochschule Düsseldorf. Von 1997 bis 2012 war Wolf Erlbruch Professor für Illustration an der Bergischen Universität Wuppertal. Für Das Bärenwunder" erhielt er 1993 den Deutschen Jugendliteraturpreis. 2003 wurde Wolf Erlbruch mit dem Gutenbergpreis der Stadt Leipzig ausgezeichnet. Im selben Jahr erhielt er den Sonderpreis des Deutschen Jugendliteraturpreises für sein Gesamtwerk und den Von-der-Heydt-Preis der Stadt Wuppertal. 2006 gewann er den Hans Christian Andersen Preis. 2014 wurde er mit dem e.o. Plauen-Preis geehrt. 2017 verlieh der schwedische Kulturrat die höchstdotierte internationale Auszeichnung im Bereich der Kinder- und Jugendliteratur, den Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, an Wolf Erlbruch.
